Description: A large Cinque Ports Pottery, the Monastry, lamp base, with raised bull design. Former Rye Pottery employee, David Sharp, together with his friend George Gray, established Cinque Ports Pottery in 1956. In 1964 they parted company, George, who retained the Cinque Ports name, settled into his new premises, The Monastery and made domestic wares. The business expanded and was successful into the eighties, by which time Jim Elliot took over. The pottery closed in July 2007.
