Description: An elegant vase from Carter, Stabler & Adams in the Bluebird pattern designed by Truda Adams & painted by Anne Hatchart.
Carter, Stabler and Adams was founded in 1921. Harold and Phoebe Stabler and John and Truda Adams brought between them a wealth of creative experience in design, modelling and decoration. They developed a very distinctive style with freeform shapes that were characterised by the use of strong clear colour and contemporary styling. Over the next forty years, the company produced a wide variety of decorative and domestic wares. One of the most easily recognisable and successful style is that of the red earthenware body with a white slip ground and a clear glaze. This style was used until the mid-thirties. The decorative pieces were all hand painted with patterns that were largely the work of Truda Adams. Carter Stabler Adams eventually became "Poole Pottery".
Impressed and painted marks. C. 1921-34.
