Description: A charming dish designed by Wilhelm Kage, for Gustavsberg as part of his 'Farsta' series.
Wilhelm Kage (1889-1960) was certainly the most innovative of Sweden's ceramics designers. His Farsta pieces are among the finest art pottery produced in the 20th century. He was employed by Gustavsberg as an art director for 32 years. Kage began working on his innovative Farsta ceramics in the early 1920's. The Farsta items are individually unique; each is a hand-sculpted, work of art, made of heavy stoneware with carved surfaces and earth coloured decorative glazes. The clay was from the Farsta bay area very near the Gustavsberg pottery studio.
